Born on July 23rd, 1986 in the serene town of Mvurwi, Zimbabwe, Lovemore Chiremekezhu’s journey is one of resilience, artistry, and ancestral storytelling carved in stone. Raised in a large family of ten children—eight boys and two girls—his life has been marked by both profound loss and unwavering creativity. Today, only five siblings remain, and through the silence left by those who have passed, Lovemore speaks with his hands—sculpting emotion, memory, and legacy into every piece.
Lovemore’s artistic spirit first awakened in the dusty classrooms of Jesta Primary School, where his love for art and crafts blossomed. He later continued at Mutorashanga High School (2000–2003), where this creative flame refused to dim. But it was in 2004 that his destiny truly took shape when he joined Gavazi Art Centre under the mentorship of his talented brother Vhuno Chiremekezhu.
Specializing in both stone and wood sculpture, Lovemore quickly developed a style rooted in Zimbabwean tradition, yet boldly expressive. His work reveals a masterful balance—strength and grace, silence and story.
After nearly a decade at Gavazi, Lovemore’s chiseling path led him to Helping Hand Gallery in Old Tafara, Harare. In 2015, he found new creative ground at Tsindi Art Gallery, located at 66 Airport Road, Hatfield. It was here that his work gained broader recognition, earning him invitations to showcase his pieces in Victoria Falls, one of Africa’s greatest wonders.
From elegant feminine forms to abstract birds and spiritual guardians, every sculpture by Lovemore is a tribute – not only to Zimbabwean culture, but also to the endurance of the human spirit. His hands carve more than stone; they carve love, loss, and hope into tangible form.
His art pieces showcased on this site represent only a glimpse of his incredible body of work – each piece whispering stories from a deeply rooted past, shaped for generations to come.
Lovemore is looking for opportunities to showcase his work both nationally and internationally, something he hopes will give him greater exposure and growth in his career.
